Duck Favorites

Friday Favorites is all about Duck, NC!

In addition to the beautiful beaches, Duck, NC is a charming little town and one of our favorite vacation destinations. It’s a beautiful spot between the sound and the sea and there are so many fun places to shop, eat and play.

Urban Cottage is one of my favorite places to shop in Duck. The original location in Scarbourough Faire is a fun décor and gift boutique. It’s where I first fell in love with Nora Fleming and started my collection. And now I’m ready to add all of her practical melamine to my collection (hint, hint).

Another one of my favorite spots is the Island Bookstore. The flagship store in Scarbourough Faire is packed full of fun books. It’s a great way to spend some time out of the sun. The staff are friendly and helpful and I always walk out with a good book.

Duck has some fabulous places to eat. One of our favorite casual spots is Coastal Cantina. It’s a fun, open-air eatery on the sound in the Waterfront Shops, featuring a delicious Tex-Mex menu with a delicious variety of frozen margaritas and sangria. The chips and guacamole and the beautiful sound views cannot be beat!

For a nice dinner out, we love Blue Point. It’s located in the Waterfront Shops and is consistently ranked among the top restaurants in Duck. Their farm-to-table menu is simple, seasonal and consistent. It’s a mellow spot with amazing food and fabulous drinks right there on the sound.  The Back Bar in the Blue Point Yard is the perfect spot for drinks at sunset. And on weekends, you can catch some great live music.

A trip to Duck is not complete without fresh, made-to-order donuts from Duck Donuts. They don’t last long with this crew.

There are so many fun things to do in Duck, in addition to the beautiful days spent on the beach. The Duck Town Park and the soundside boardwalk, in the heart of Duck have some beautiful walking trails and fun family activities. The park features 11 acres of natural beauty with trails, open spaces, beautiful views of the sound and access to the mile-long boardwalk.

The world class spa at the Sanderling Resort sits on the Currituck Sound and is the cherry on top to a wonderful week at the beach. The spa’s signature treatments use unique natural resources of the OBX coastline.

And finally, the sunsets on the sound cannot be beat. It’s the perfect ending to a perfect day in Duck.
