With spring just around the corner, our thoughts turn to fresh fruits and vegetables. And what better time to explore Richmond’s farmer’s markets than right now!
One of the fun things we’ve found about farmer’s markets is they not only have delicious food, but they also offer lots of activities and entertainment. And of course we love that we can find C & C’s Cinnamon Rolls at the West End Farmer’s Market too!
Don’t miss the opportunity to try new recipes when you visit the market. Local farmers and vendors have lots of tips and recipes for you to try. Just ask them new ways to prepare some of the foods you buy and you may be surprised at what you learn. Instead of the same old boring dishes, put a new spin on a meal with their ideas.
One of my favorite things to do is grab some fresh flowers at the market too!
The Back to the Market Movement website has one of the most up-to-date and comprehensive listings of markets we’ve found. You can search for markets by day of the week and location. There’s even a map to make it super easy to find where you’re going. Area markets work together to “increase access to local food, expand opportunities for our local farmers and support the development of new local businesses” according to their site.
Check it out and keep up with markets year-round.
